GiveShop

In-Kind Giving and Charity-Friendly Shopping

Meals on Wheels Ottawa has partnered with GiveShop. GiveShop is a new and innovative, app-based online marketplace where users can donate and buy gently used items with all proceeds going to charitable causes like ours!

Visit our GiveShop marketplace today and download the free app.

How GiveShop Works

Donors can post gently used items on the marketplace by taking or uploading a photo, setting the item price and then choosing “Meals on Wheels Ottawa” as the beneficiary charity. Buyers can search the marketplace by item, category or by “Meals on Wheels Ottawa” and pay for items using a credit card via the app. Once the donor and buyer agree on price, the two parties meet up to exchange the item and complete the sale. The donor then receives a tax receipt for the sale amount, the buyer benefits knowing their purchase is benefiting a great cause and Meals on Wheels Ottawa receives the net proceeds from the sale – deposited directly into our their bank account.

Virtual Garage Sale

In addition to the efforts of individual donors and buyers, GiveShop has also created a fundraising program called the “Virtual Garage Sale” for companies and community groups who are also looking for opportunities to raise money for Meals on Wheels Ottawa. These organizations can host a Virtual Garage Sale where the group selects Meals on Wheels Ottawa as the charity they wish to donate to and then asks their employees or members to participate by donating or buying gently used item on the marketplace in support of the fundraiser. Once again, all proceeds from items sold in relation to that fundraiser go to Meals on Wheels Ottawa. It’s a true win-win-win opportunity for everyone involved!

Meals on Wheels Ottawa is founded by  The King’s Daughters Dinner Wagon and  is a registered charitable organization. Income Tax receipts are issued for charitable donations. Charitable #11898 1778 RR0001.
