The King’s Daughters and Sons Founder’s Day

February 12, 2020

KDS Founders’ Day event took place on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 11am until 1:00pm in the new KDS building at 567 Cambridge Street South. Following the meeting, those in attendance were treated to a nice lunch and tour of the beautiful new apartments and common spaces which included artworks commissioned for the new lobby. The three panels of this artwork outline three major activities that KDS had organized over the years, namely the Fresh Air Cottage in Britannia to provide a country holiday for disadvantaged children, the Guild Home for young single working women, and Meals on Wheels

With continuous operation for over 51 years, The KDS Apartments, located at 567 Cambridge Street South in Ottawa, provide a high quality of life for seniors living on modest income in a central location close to beautiful Dow’s Lake. The King’s Daughters and Sons Apartments Incorporated (KDS) is now ready to serve more seniors! The new building aims to address aging in place and facilitates independent living in an established downtown neighbourhood.

Meals on Wheels would like to express its sincere gratitude to KDS for their generous donation of $15,000 presented at this year’s Founder’s Day.

The Ottawa City Union of The King’s Daughters and Sons founded MOW/LPR in 1968 and have remained involved in our governance while providing ongoing financial support. They are great friends and supporters of Meals on Wheels!
